We use AI tools to help produce the golf guides on aucklandgolfclub.co.nz, and we think readers should know that. This page explains what AI does in our process, what it does not do, and how a human editor checks every page before it is published.
How we use AI
AI is a working tool for us, in the same way that a spell-checker or a search engine is. We use it for tasks such as:
- gathering and summarising background material on a course, a piece of equipment or a tournament
- suggesting a structure for a guide so that it answers the questions readers are likely to have
- producing a first draft that the editor then rewrites and checks
- tidying up wording, spelling and consistency
AI never has the final word. It can be wrong, out of date or overconfident, and that matters a great deal when a page deals with green fees, opening hours, the Rules of Golf or the history of an event. For that reason, no text goes live on the strength of an AI draft alone.
Our human editing process
Every article is worked through by a person before publication. That work includes:
- Checking facts against primary sources, such as a club’s own website, Golf New Zealand, The R&A and official tournament information.
- Correcting errors and removing anything we cannot verify. If a claim cannot be supported, it is taken out.
- Adapting the content for New Zealand readers, including local terms, prices in New Zealand dollars and the local season.
- Improving the language so that the guide is clear, natural and free of unnecessary jargon.
- Adding context that a draft tends to miss, such as what a visitor needs to check before turning up at a course.
- Making sure the text is original and written for this site.
Why we are open about it
Readers are entitled to know how the content they rely on is made. Being open about our use of AI is part of earning trust, and it sits comfortably with the widely accepted principle that what matters most is whether content is helpful, accurate and written for people, whatever tools were used along the way.
Fact-checking and responsibility
Responsibility for what we publish rests with the site’s editor, never with a tool. Golf information dates quickly: fees rise, courses are redesigned, clubs change their visitor policies and tournaments move. We revisit pages and update them when we learn that the facts have changed.
Even so, we cannot guarantee that every detail is current at every moment. If something matters to your plans, please confirm it with the club, range or retailer concerned. You can read more about who we are on our about us page.
Our content is information, not advice
Our guides are general information. They are not professional coaching, and they are not a recommendation to buy a particular product or join a particular club.
A small number of articles about professional golf mention betting odds. These passages describe how things work and are not betting advice or an encouragement to gamble. Gambling is for adults aged 18 and over, and help is available if it stops being fun. See our responsible gambling page for support services.
